What are ways to relieve stress?

As I graphed my weight loss it became evident that the weeks I plateaued had a direct correlation with the stress in my life.  For example, when we bought our first house, planned our wedding, and worked with an extremely violent student on a daily basis.  I wouldn't doubt if for the next few weeks I plateau or gain weight as well.  We have been building a house for almost a year and it looks like we may move in the same week I start getting my classroom ready for school again. I know I'm stressed because the two largest signs are not being able to sleep and grinding my teeth.  (Trust me, I know my problems could be a lot worse but that doesn't change that they're stressful!).  All my life I have been a worrier; my parents had to play soothing music so I would fall asleep and choose food products that didn't upset my stomach so much.  I'm not kidding - once I even begged my bus driver to back the bus down our cul-de-sac because (I told her it was for homework) I had on different colored blue knee-highs.  I was afraid the kids would make fun of me.  I literally became sick over it so my bus driver kindly back the bus in reverse all the way down my street!

The point is, before the worrying and stress gets too bad try to find things to soothe you.  For instance, right now I know I need to mellow out so I've asked my husband to go on a walk with the dogs and me.  Working out really helps me relieve stress.  I also try to read, do deep breathing, listen to music, and take baths.  When all else fails, sometimes even a glass of wine or two may just do the trick!  Wink   Any other suggestions for how to relieve stress?
